Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has stated that refurbishing the Government House is not a top priority at the moment, emphasising that his administration is focused on projects that matter more to Abians.
However, he assured all that the seat of power would be fixed soon.
Speaking during the March edition of his monthly interaction with journalists on Friday, Otti remarked, “Abians want to see activities, not where their governor is staying,” adding that resources are scarce and are being directed to more critical needs."
“You are worried that I am not operating from here; I don’t think you should worry about that. The important thing is that I’m operating"
"Where I live is not as important as having roads in Aba and Umuahia and ensuring that our people have good hospitals and schools,” the governor said.
Otti disclosed that while the governor’s office and lodge were in a “terrible state of disrepair” when he assumed office, they will be renovated “in no distant time.”
On funding for the state’s infrastructure projects, Otti described his strategy as “Financial Engineering,” stating, “How I manage the funds available to me is my trade secret.”
The governor revealed that of the 948 Primary Healthcare Centres in the state, 267 have been upgraded, and the Umunneato General Hospital has been transformed into a Specialist Hospital.
He also highlighted efforts to revive the education sector, noting that 222 schools have been identified for urgent attention.
On road infrastructure, Otti said that Julius Berger is working hard to complete the Aba–Port Harcourt road before the end of May.
He further assured all that the “Light-Up Abia” initiative and distribution of transformers will continue to enhance security and aesthetics across the state.
Speaking on security, the governor stressed, “We will not rest on our oars as security is our top priority,” and called for public support to sustain peace in Abia."
Otti promised that the next 21 months will witness even more development activities, reaffirming his commitment to addressing the state’s pressing needs

A Nigerian lady, Chioma Ifeanyi-Eze, has shared an interesting story about how her husband won her heart, even while she was dating a medical doctor.
Taking to her social handle, she wrote:
"My husband has one of the rarest chasing skills I have seen. I was dating a medical doctor when I met my husband. He never for one day said anything about the doctor nor asked me anything about my relationships with anyone. He just focused all his energy on making me laugh a lot, enjoying the friendship, building a closeness, and finally proposed."
According to her, even though her then-boyfriend, the doctor, complained about how much she laughed during her husband's calls, she reassured him that they were just friends. She even thought she wouldn’t date her husband because of his tall and huge stature.
However, her husband’s strategy was different—he never competed or spoke about the doctor. Instead, he used deep care, attention, peace of mind, and laughter to gradually win her over.
"Alas, my husband had the baddest strategy of building the deepest friendship and disarming all the other chasers without ever discussing them for one day. Chai."
Eventually, she was the one who dismissed everyone else because none could match the joy and peace he brought into her life. Now, 14 years into marriage, she still wonders where he learned such an incredible approach.
"14 years on, he is still such an amazing choice. I respect his strategies till date."

A viral video showing a self-acclaimed Nigerian "Big Boy" flushing stacks of Naira notes down a toilet has sparked widespread outrage online. The unidentified young man, appearing to show off his wealth, was captured in the footage dropping bundles of cash into a water cistern before flushing, claiming he was "too rich" to care. shocked
This reckless display of extravagance has angered many Nigerians, with social media users calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to take action. Some netizens pointed out that such an act violates Section 21 of the CBN Act (2007), which prohibits the abuse of the Naira, including defacing or destroying currency notes. The offense carries a punishment of at least six months in prison, a fine of ₦50,000, or both.
Critics have also linked such behavior to illicit wealth, arguing that "money that comes too easily or illegally is often wasted carelessly." Others condemned the act as a show of disregard for the country's economic struggles, calling it an insult to millions of hardworking Nigerians.

The National Counter Terrorism Centre, under the Office of the National Security Adviser, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Alliance of Sahel States – Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger – to effectively combat terrorism in West Africa and the Sahel region.
Speaking during a study visit of delegates from the three nations to the NCTC in Abuja on Thursday, the National Coordinator, Maj. Gen. Adamu Laka, emphasised the importance of regional cooperation in counterterrorism efforts.
The visit comes at a critical time, as Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger recently withdrew from the Economic Community of West African States, raising concerns about worsening insecurity in the region.
Last week, Nigeria’s Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, warned that the exit of the three countries had increased the security burden on Nigeria’s military.
“The recent withdrawal of the Alliance of Sahel States from ECOWAS has disrupted existing security frameworks. This development has direct implications for the Multinational Joint Task Force, which has played a crucial role in countering Boko Haram and ISWAP across Nigeria, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon,” Abubakar stated during a first-quarter meeting with senior Air Force officials in Abuja.
Speaking on Thursday, the NCTC coordinator, Laka, noted that the study tour by Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso delegates aimed to enhance knowledge sharing, promote teamwork, and strengthen social skills among regional security actors.
“As you are aware, cooperation in counterterrorism efforts is essential as it allows countries to share information, resources, and expertise,” he said. “The challenges we face in countering terrorism are multifaceted and complex, requiring innovative approaches and steadfast determination. By coming together in this spirit of mutual understanding and cooperation, we strengthen our resolve and enhance our capabilities to effectively counter terrorism.”
Laka highlighted the existing military collaboration between Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon, and Benin Republic, particularly through the Lake Chad Basin Commission.
He credited the MNJTF for dislodging Boko Haram from its former strongholds and significantly degrading its capacity to launch large-scale attacks.
He also reaffirmed that the Office of the National Security Adviser had adopted a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to ensure a coordinated response to terrorism and serious organised crime.
Nigeria’s counterterrorism strategy, he said, has evolved over the years to focus on legal, policy, and strategic frameworks.
The Chief of Defence Staff and Chairman of West African Defence Chiefs, Gen. Christopher Musa, announced plans to visit Mali and Burkina Faso soon, saying that Nigeria had no intention of waging war against the two nations.
Musa, who visited Niger last year, expressed eagerness to visit Mali and Burkina Faso, stressing the need for unity in the face of shared security threats.
He also called for a concerted effort to disrupt illegal mining operations, which he identified as a major source of funding for terrorist groups.
Musa said, “I visited Niger last year and was warmly received. I look forward to visiting Mali and Burkina Faso as well. We must remain united.
“We must stop them from accessing funds. We need to prevent foreign partners from supporting them. This is crucial in our fight against terrorism.”
Expressing his delight at the meeting, the CDS stressed the importance of regional cooperation in tackling security challenges.
“It gladdens my heart to have people from the AES countries here. It shows how important it is for us to work together. It is only by working together that we can defeat these enemies of peace. These individuals have no respect for life, borders, or human rights. All they seek is destruction, especially within the Sahel region,” Musa said.
He stressed that Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso have historical and cultural ties.
“If you look at our way of life – whether in Nigeria, Mali, or Niger – we are one and the same. The only difference is the borders drawn during colonial times. Our culture, attitudes, and behaviors are similar. This meeting is a testament to the fact that we are not enemies but brothers and sisters,” he stated.
Musa noted that the meeting would not have been possible if their junta leaders had not permitted it.
He said, “Of course, they would not have been here if they didn’t have the support of their commanders. So they understand that they understand that peace is more important than war.”
Speaking on Nigeria’s commitment to regional peace, Musa stated that the country since independence had been providing support to African countries during crises.
He said, “Over time, Nigeria has remained a peaceful country and has always meant well for its neighbors. There have been attempts to portray us as enemies, but we will never be enemies. Our presence here today is proof that we are brothers and sisters. We will not wage war against each other.
“Once again, I am pleased with this meeting. To our brothers from Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali – we are one family. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Since independence, Nigeria has always stepped in to assist African nations in times of crisis.
“During apartheid, we welcomed South Africans here. When Liberia was in turmoil, Charles Taylor found refuge in Nigeria. Even now, the former president of Sierra Leone is here. Nigeria has always been a peaceful nation, and we intend to remain that way.”
The team lead, Aliyu Gebi, called for collaboration to keep countries safer.
He said, “We are safer and stronger when we work together. what happens in Mali,Niger and Burkina Faso resonates in Nigeria.
“I commend the Nigerian military for winning the war against insurgents but we need to harmonise strategies towards winning peace.”
He said the team was in Nigeria to study how to connect kinetic and non-kinetic operations to win peace.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe said Wednesday that the US has paused intelligence support and weapons shipments to Ukraine following the clash in the Oval Office between President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump last Friday.
Trump had a real question about whether President Zelensky was committed to the peace process, and he said let’s pause,” Ratcliffe told Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo in an interview on Wednesday.
“I want to give a chance to think about that and you saw the response that President Zelensky put out,” Ratcliffe added, “So I think on the military front and the intelligence front, the pause that allowed that to happen, I think will go away.”
Ratcliffe expressed hope that the pause will soon be lifted and emphasized his commitment to working with Ukraine towards achieving peace, following a letter from the Ukrainian president to Trump.
And I think we’ll work shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine as we have to push back on the aggression that’s there, put the world in a better place for these peace negotiations to move forward,” the CIA director added.
A senior US military official said the US has already curtailed some intelligence sharing, including carrying out fewer intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance flights that could impact both offensive and defensive operations including air defense, since Ukraine depends on US intelligence for overwatch.
In the lead up to Trump’s inauguration, Ratcliffe and the Trump transition team were told of the value of intelligence sharing with Ukraine by US officials who stressed that it was a hallmark of their achievements on the battlefield, according to a source familiar with the discussions.

Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves dropped by $1.31 billion in February 2025, reflecting ongoing external pressures amid a stronger naira.
According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the reserves declined from $39.72 billion on January 31, 2025, to $38.42 billion on February 28, 2025, marking a 3.3 per cent drop within the month.
The decline recorded in February is slightly higher than that of January 2025, when the reserves dipped by $1.16 billion.
The decline comes at a time when the naira has recorded some gains against the dollar, leading to speculations about the central bank’s strategy in managing foreign exchange (FX) market liquidity and ensuring exchange rate stability.
A month of consistent decline
An ****** ysis of the data reveals that Nigeria’s FX reserves experienced a steady and uninterrupted decline throughout February. The reserves stood at $39.60 billion on February 3, a slight drop from the previous week’s $39.72 billion recorded at the end of January. By February 4, reserves had decreased further to $39.54 billion, marking the beginning of a persistent downward trend.
By February 7, Nigeria’s reserves had slipped to $39.04 billion, and by February 10, they fell further to $39.27 billion. The downward trajectory continued into the second week, with reserves standing at $39.15 billion on February 12 and further dropping to $38.88 billion by February 17.
By the third week of February, reserves had weakened further, hitting $38.72 billion on February 19 and $38.69 billion on February 21. As the month came to an end, reserves continued to deplete, reaching $38.41 billion on February 28, representing a significant decline from where they started at the beginning of the month.
Likely drivers of the decline
Beyond any form of intervention that the CBN might be doing to support the naira, manage exchange rate volatility and inject liquidity into the official forex market, the government’s continued reliance on the reserves to fund critical imports and service external debt obligations likely contributed to the decline. Nigeria remains heavily dependent on imports for industrial goods and food supplies, requiring significant FX outflows to meet these demands.
The situation is further complicated by fluctuations in oil revenue, which remains Nigeria’s primary source of foreign exchange earnings. Despite a recent rebound in crude oil prices, production challenges, pipeline vandalism, and oil theft have affected the country’s ability to maximize earnings from its oil sector. This has constrained the ability to build up FX reserves.
The continued drawdown in reserves raises critical questions about Nigeria’s external position and overall macroeconomic stability. One major area of concern is the country’s ability to meet its debt obligations. Nigeria has a significant stock of external debt, and servicing these obligations requires a stable level of foreign reserves. A further decline could limit the government’s ability to meet repayment schedules, potentially increasing borrowing costs.

This marks a positive shift from its previous downward trend, offering some relief to businesses and traders.
By the end of February, the naira recorded notable gains across key foreign currencies. The naira strengthened against the US dollar to N1,540/$, up from N1,620/$, reflecting a 7.41% appreciation.
Also, the naira strengthened against the British pound and improved to N1,910/£ from N2,000/£, marking a 4.50% increase, while it appreciated against the euro by rising to N1,550/€, compared to N1,660/€, showing a 6.34% gain.
This uptrend marks the strongest level for the naira since the beginning of 2025, indicating a short-term recovery in the foreign exchange market.
The official exchange rate followed a similar trend, stabilizing slightly above N1,500/$ in the weeks leading up to February’s close. According to data from the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM), the naira settled at N1,496/$1 in the official market at the end of February.
This stability comes amid efforts by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to bridge the gap between the official and parallel market rates, ensuring a more transparent forex system.
As of February 28, 2025, the Nigerian Naira (NGN) traded at approximately N1,500 per US dollar in both the official and parallel markets. This convergence indicates a unified exchange rate market
Since the beginning of 2025, the naira has been trading above N1,600/$ in the parallel market. However, in February, the currency strengthened, hitting a yearly low of N1,480/$ on February 26, before settling around N1,500/$ by month-end.

Petroleum retailers and marketers have hinted that Nigerians should expect more premium motor spirit price reductions as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and Dangote Refinery commenced a fresh price war following fuel drops by both firms.
This comes as NNPC on Monday announced its new petrol prices of N860 and N880 per litre, respectively, in Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and across the country, respectively.
DAILY POST reports that NNPCL retail outlets along the Kubwa expressway in Abuja, the Central Business District, opposite the company’s headquarters, and other locations have reflected the new pump price of N880 per litre.
Recall that barely six days ago, Dangote Refinery dropped its petrol price to N880 per litre in its partners’ fuel outlet, MRS filling station, and other filling stations in Abuja.
The development has sparked a fresh petrol price war between NNPCL and Dangote Refinery.
The situation means Nigerians would now choose to buy petrol between NNPCL and Dangote retail outlets amid their price war.
Recall that since February 2025, Dangote petrol has been selling at an advantageous price compared to NNPC.
Reacting, National President of Petroleum Retailers Outlets Owners **** ociation and his counterpart of the Independent Petroleum Marketers **** ociation of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry and Abubakar Maigadi, respectively, said Nigerians should expect more petrol price drops amid the competition between NNPCL and Dangote refinery.
According to Gillis-Harry, Nigerians are in an advantageous position in what he described as a necessary business matrix between NNPCL and Dangote Refinery.
He stressed that the war has brought smiles to the faces of Nigerians battered by the rising cost of living.
“The new price has been reflected on our portal.
“This price reduction will be a huge relief to many Nigerians struggling to make ends meet.
“The reduction in PMS prices is expected to positively impact Nigerians’ lives.
We are engaging NNPCL to also bring down the petrol prices for the benefit of Nigerians and marketers,” he told DAILY POST.
On his part, Maigandi said what is happening in the downstream oil and gas sector is the beauty of deregulation.
According to him, “It is not surprising because Dangote petrol is selling at that rate.
“This is what we have been telling the government to deregulate the sector. The price will start coming down. Investors have started coming.
“The reduction in petrol price means joy to Nigerians and marketers,” he told DAILY POST.
DAILY POST recalls that the price war between NNPCL and Dangote Refinery started on September 15, 2024, when the latter kicked off the PMS rollout.

The Federal Government on Monday approved N733.89bn for the dualisation of the Oyo-Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State, among other projects.
Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, announced this to State House correspondents after the 24th Federal Executive Council meeting at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
The dualisation of the Ibadan-Ilorin Road, Section Two, covers Oyo-Ogbomoso in Oyo State and is valued at N147.89bn.
The 147Km stretch will be constructed with reinforced concrete pavement, and the contract was awarded to GRVe.
Other key projects include the dualisation of the Odupani-Itu-Idedem Item-Ikot Ekpene Road in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states, awarded to Decon Construction Nigeria Limited for ₦55bn.
Additionally, FEC approved funding for the completion of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, specifically Section Two, which covers 164km.
The contract was awarded for ₦507bn to InfoWest Nigeria Limited, the same company handling Sections One and Three.
The final approval was for the construction of a flyover at Abakpa, near the 82 Division in Enugu, to ease traffic congestion in the area. The project, awarded to CCECC, is valued at ₦24bn.
Providing further clarification on the Odupani-Itu-Ikot Ekpene Road, the minister explained that “We have an entire section from Akwa Ibom cutting through this Odukpani, where we have the power plant, and then ending at Cross River.
“There are three sections that we inherited. One is CCECC. That’s the first one coming from Akwa Ibom. The second one is Berger. Berger had about 27 kilometers there, and then, they went onto Cross River, and then had about 17 kilometers, and then the last one is Somatech.
“When we came on board, we needed to review all the projects. And so, whereas the two other contractors, CCECC and Somatech accepted the review, Berger insisted that the project should be reviewed up to over N100bn, which warranted terminating it.
That project is being re-procured through selective competitive bidding. And Decon won it with N55bn, as against N100bn plus.”
The former Ebonyi State Governor also addressed concerns raised in the Senate about regional disparities in project allocation, clarifying that FEC approvals are based on memos submitted and processed rather than deliberate regional favoritism.
He explained that project distribution depends on factors such as procurement processing timelines and not an intention to favor one part of the country over another.
“Let me use one minute to correct an impression created in the Senate. There was a time we awarded some projects, and we came here to say the projects that FEC approved, and a senator raised a motion in the house, alluding that more projects were approved in the south than in the north.
“Let me correct that impression, because I’m not qualified to write to the senate president to fix it. However, the fact remains that it is the memo that comes to FEC that is approved.
Sometimes a memo can be in favour of a particular region or a particular zone and so forth.
“So our briefing here should not be taken as if we are bringing projects in an equitable form. A project may go to BPP and they are processing it, but it is not…like today, we have a total of N507bn, which is for Abuja-Kano section.
And of course, in my zone, we have only N24bn.
So if tomorrow you bring something big for Southeast, **** ody should start saying…So the President is committed to completing all the inherited projects.” He stated.
Umahi further pointed out that many of the projects being executed by the current administration were inherited from the previous government, and their distribution was not initially equitable.
However, President Bola Tinubu has continued all inherited projects, ensuring that essential infrastructure across all regions is completed.
Meanwhile, the Federal Executive Council has approved a ₦1.09bn insurance package to cover critical **** ets and personnel across all federal airports nationwide.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, disclosed this at the briefing after the 24th FEC meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.
Keyamo explained that the approval aligns with a directive from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which mandates Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to insure critical government **** ets.
Additionally, the move is essential for Nigeria’s airports to secure International Civil Aviation Organization certification.
“This memo was prompted by Mr. President because we cannot continue to run our airports and critical **** ets, as precious and expensive as they are, without insurance cover,” he said.
He noted that many airport **** ets remained uninsured for a long time, putting them at risk. Therefore, the new insurance scheme, he said, will protect both infrastructure and personnel of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.

My issue with Akpabio started on 8th of December, 2023. When myself and my husband visited Akwa Ibom for Senator Akpabio’s birthday. Akpabio was showing me around his house and was holding my hands with my husband following behind us when he said, he wants me to come and be spending special moments in his house. My husband heard him and later told me not to travel abroad alone or be with the Senate President alone — Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Arise TV Morning Sho

My marriage was literally falling apart, and my attempt to save it turned into a disaster!
Brian and I had been together for many years, and our marriage was noticeably fading. So, when he was sent on a business trip to Paris, I thought, "Hell, the city of love is a great chance to rekindle our passion!" I decided to surprise him and fly with him.
But you know what I saw there? HIM WITH ANOTHER WOMAN!
Me: "WHAT THE ****** ?! WHO IS THIS?!"
Brian: "Don't make a scene, you're embarrassing yourself! It's none of your business, go home!"
Right in the middle of the plane, he mocked and humiliated me. In tears and despair, I thought about revenge. But karma was faster, when suddenly the pilot's voice stopped him.👇 Details in the comment

NNPC is trending because Nigerians believe they’d soon be out of business. As Dangote dropped price again.
Dangote Refinery has reduced price of petrol by a whopping ₦65, going from ₦895 to ₦825 at depots.
It’ll be sold ₦860 in Lagos, ₦870 in SW, ₦880 in the North and ₦895 in SS and SE, while NNPC remains at ₦960 per litre.
This reduction by Dangote is the second one in February 2025. Earlier they reduced it from ₦950 to ₦890. And now ₦890 to ₦860.
Dangote petrol is readily sold at MRS, Heyden and AP. However, this new relief is believed to be a Ramadan package. But Nigerians are still not impressed.
Analysts argue that, if Dangote can singlehandedly decide the market cost of Petrol, then he can as well increase it. Which they believe is bad for consumers.

Andrew and Tristan Tate Depart Romania for the United States: A Controversial Development
Andrew and Tristan Tate, the controversial brothers who gained fame for their outspoken views on masculinity and gender, have officially left Romania for the United States. This significant development comes after political pressure from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly intervened in their legal situation, pushing Romanian authorities to lift the restrictions that had kept them in the country. The Tates had been under investigation by Romanian authorities since 2022, facing charges of human trafficking, organized crime, and other serious allegations.
The brothers were accused of running a criminal network that exploited women by coercing them into creating explicit content. Their arrest triggered widespread media attention, fueled by their notoriety on social media. Trump’s reported involvement has added a new layer of complexity to the case, raising questions about the role of political influence in international legal matters. Critics argue that such interventions undermine the integrity of the judicial process, while others suggest that the Tates should have the right to a fair trial without political pressure.
Although the Tates have left Romania, their legal troubles are far from over. The charges against them still stand, and whether they will return to face further legal proceedings remains unclear. Their case continues to spark debates about social media influence, freedom of speech, and the impact of political power in legal matters. As the situation unfolds, the Tates’ future remains uncertain, with many watching closely to see how the case develops in both the U.S. and Romania.

Jennifer Lopez is back in the spotlight, but not for the reasons you might expect.
Following the end of her second marriage to Ben Affleck, the pop icon has found herself navigating the choppy waters of her past relationships, particularly her tumultuous romance with rapper and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
This renewed interest comes on the heels of Diddy’s recent arrest, shifting the focus onto their once high-profile relationship from the late ‘90s. Check my comment for the full story
