nelson Posted September 27 Share Posted September 27 Gov. Umo Eno’s wife goes home. The wife of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Patience Umo Eno, passed away after an illness on September 26, 2024. The Commissioner for Information in the state, Ini Ememobong, announced her death. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by family. The family asked for privacy over the sad occurrence and had appreciated those who so far showed concern. In spite of his personal loss, Governor Umo Eno still vowed to attend to his duties as governor. The death of Patience Eno was announced early this morning, which has sent shockwaves across Akwa Ibom State and beyond. Tributes have been coming in from different quarters: from the leadership, the community, and well-wishers. A lot of people are remembering her as First Lady through her philanthropic works, her interest in and dedication to the cause of bettering the lots of women and children in the state. In this official statement, it quoted him saying, "The family appreciates the support outpouring from the public, but would want to be left to their grief in private." It was not only a family but also a very important moment for the state, as many had grown to admire her role in community service and advocacy. With so many remembrances and great contributions to her name, people have started streaming on all types of social media and public forums to pay respect. Additional details regarding memorial services and various ways in which the public can pay respects will be made by the Governor's office. Following her death, several groups and individuals reacted with messages of condolence, reflecting on her lifetime of service and care. As First Lady, she was involved in a number of activities that ranged from women's empowerment and health care to educational issues. Her advocacy on many occasions underlined community engagement and standing up for the less fortunate.
